Men are often surprised to know how frequently women are catcalled or wolf-whistled in an average day. Not just girls in short skirts and low cut tops, but perfectly professional women who mind their own business, but happen to make the mistake of passing by a construction site or crossing by a truck full of dudes on lunch break only to be greeted by an unwelcome, "Hey baby, nice _____." You can fill in the blank.
To address this problem, a building firm in South Wales has banned its employees from wolf-whistling at women. A spokesman for the company said that the ban was suggested by a foreman at a site who "spoke to builders and they all thought that it was a good idea."
